Ross’ 5 Stages of Dying
Although there is no situation in the film which involves the elderly or death, there is a similar experience of grieving among the rascals, especially Alfalfa and Spanky. They get in another fight over Alfalfa being a ‘women lover’ and they part ways. This can be closely compared to Ross’ Five Stages of Dying. In this scene, the rascals are in the depression stage of their relationship death. They are very down and nothing will pick them up.[19] There is sad music to enhance the sadness along with multiple instances of the rascals frowning and being alone.

Importance of Diverse Relationships
Learning from Spanky and Alfalfa’s fight, they accepted the fact that they are going to have different viewpoints on certain subjects, such as being a ‘women lover’. Spanky and the other rascals eventually became ‘women lovers.' Every rascal had a girl by his side at the end of the movie. Through the course of the film, the rascals found a clearer understanding of diverse relationships in that, “At any given point in life, an individual has the opportunity, given the quality of his or her social network, to learn from others and to teach others what they know.”[20] Alfalfa learned to respect and be truthful to his guy friends while Spanky and the others learned to be more understanding of Alfalfa and his viewpoint on girls.
