The Little Rascals
The Little Rascals originated as a tv series starting in 1955. The show and movie is centered around two outgoing boys, Spanky and Alfalfa, along with the rest of the rascals. The Little Rascals was revamped as a film in 1994. Spanky, Alfalfa, and the gang undergo a crazy summer filled with fights, girls, go cart races, and many other crazy events.
Spanky, the president of the He Man Woman Haters Club, draws Alfalfa's name to compete in the go cart race at the fair. Alfalfa, in fact, is not a 'woman hater' and he takes his love, Darla, out on dates throughout the film. Spanky and the gang tries to force Alfalfa to become a woman hater, but it is not in Alfalfa's heart. Throughout the movie, Alfalfa fights for Darla's heart with the charming, Waldo, all while defending himself against the two town bullies, Butch and Woim. Like any fun children's film, Alfalfa gets the girl, keeps his friends, triumphs over his enemies, and even wins the race at the end of the movie. The rest of the He Man Woman Haters Club becomes women lovers towards the end of the film too!
Below you will find quick details about some of the main characters of The Little Rascals. I tie theories discussed in my Interpersonal Communication class and Close Encounters textbook by Laura Guerrero to the lighthearted film. Enjoy the website as it takes you down memory lane of past experiences watching the film or as a child!
